Men’s Lacrosse Cruises In Home Win

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg men's lacrosse team used a run of eight-straight goals to secure its second win of the season with a 14-3 decision over Lebanon Valley, Wednesday.
 
With the game tied at 1-1 and the first quarter clock winding down, Frostburg started its eight-goal flurry when senior Keegan Colegrove scored at 4:43.
 
Colegrove capped the run two quarters later when he found the net for an unassisted goal just 58 seconds into the second half.
 
In between, seniors Adam Gross (3:27) and Daniel Paladino (00:56) each scored to close the first quarter with Frostburg ahead 4-1.
 
The Bobcats (2-1) took advantage of the game's first penalty as sophomore Paul Ruppert connected with senior Nate Collins for a man-up goal with 13:38 showing in the second.
 
Frostburg closed out the half with an 8-1 cushion with three goals inside the final four minutes. Gross scored for the second time on the afternoon with 3:50 left in the half.
 
Senior Ryan Baukhages made the score 7-1 with an unassisted tally at 2:42 and first-year Jason Clinton closed the second with his second of the game with 16 seconds left.
 
LVC's Alex Bushong scored to make it 9-2 and end Frostburg's eight-goal run. However, the Bobcats answered with another run, this time five-consecutive goals to seal the win.
 
Gross found Clinton at 7:00 for a 10-2 lead and Clinton scored a man-up goal 52 seconds later as Frostburg surged to an 11-2 edge.
 
Ruppert scored off an assist from Clinton with 3:01 left in the third for a 12-2 advantage after three quarters.
 
Collins (11:03) and sophomore Dylan Scheeler (8:15) scored Frostburg's final two goals in the fourth for a 14-2 lead. Josh Croyle scored for Lebanon Valley (1-1) to close the evening with 27 seconds left.
 
Frostburg led LVC in every major statistical category including shots (32-20), ground balls (35-16) and faceoffs (13-8). The Bobcats also successfully cleared 16 of their 18 attempts.
 
Clinton led the Bobcats in scoring again with four goals and one assists. In two games at Bobcat Stadium this season he has eight goals and one assist.
 
Gross finished with two goals and one assist, while Colegrove and Collins each scored twice. Carroll and sophomore Jake Howarth handed out two assists each.
 
Sophomore keeper Jack Marks needed to make just seven saves for his second win this spring. First-year Matt Pagliaro won 10-of-12 faceoffs and scooped up a team-best six ground balls. Sophomore Dante York caused three turnovers and picked up four ground balls.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday at Washington (Md.) at 3:00 pm.
