FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State volleyball team opened Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) play with an exciting 3-1 win over Wesley in the team's home opener Friday night at Bobcat Arena.

Frostburg (12-6) dictated the play for much of the match, limiting Wesley (12-5) to a .043 hitting percentage.
 
Senior Madelyn Torres helped facilitate the Bobcat offensive attack, which hit .205 for the match, with 36 assists on the night. It was Torres' fourth match of the season with 30 or more assists this season. She also contributed four aces for the Bobcats.
 
Senior Naya Cheatem smacked a game-high 15 kills while classmate Zoe Harris had 11. Senior Lindsey Scepura had a team-high 17 digs and sophomore Hannah Brown added 12.
 
Frostburg rolled through the first set with a 25-17 victory, but Wesley responded with a 25-20 win in the second set to tie the match at one. From there, Frostburg pulled away for a 25-16 win in the third set and a 25-15 match-clinching win in the fourth and final set of the night.
 
The Bobcats used a 9-0 scoring run to take an 18-7 lead in the first set.
 
After Wesley tied the match in the second set, Frostburg scored seven of the final eight points in the third set to take a 2-1 lead. Harris and Cheatem each notched a pair of kills to propel the Bobcats to victory.
 
Frostburg opened the fourth set with a 7-2 advantage and closed the set with six of the final seven points to seal the 3-1 victory.
 
Frostburg's homestand continues tomorrow afternoon at Bobcat Arena with a conference match against Salisbury at 2:00 p.m.
