PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team fell 1-0 in its season-opening matchup to No. 22 Carnegie Mellon Friday afternoon.
Frostburg was only able to muster one shot on the afternoon, a dangerous header from junior Danielle Ferris that went just high in the 37
th minute. The Bobcats were outshot 27-1 and did not put any on goal.
The lone goal of the contest came in the 69
th minute after a soft touch to the middle sprung CMU's Kaily Bruch open to score with her left foot.
Freshman goalkeeper Jenny Bullers made her Bobcat debut and ended the day with nine saves in 90:00 minutes of action. Senior Kourtney McLain took the Bobcats only corner kick 1:08 into the match.
Frostburg returns to the field on Saturday with a neutral site match against Wooster at 4:30 p.m. The match will be played at CMU Soccer Field.
