FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State baseball team notched a pair of wins over York (Pa.) in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) play Wednesday afternoon at Bob Wells Field.

Baseball Conference Opener Against York Suspended to Darkness
Frostburg defeated York (Pa.) 19-15 in the first game, which was a continuation of a suspended contest from March 8. The Bobcats racked up 19 runs on 22 hits, including two home runs in the ninth inning.
The game resumed in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Bobcats leading 17-13, and both teams plated two runs in the ninth for the 19-15 final. Juniors Greg Schneider and Colton Sivic used a stiff breeze blowing to right center field during their solo home runs. For Schneider, it was his first homer of the season, while Sivic cracked his fifth of the season with his shot to right center.
In the regularly scheduled game, Frostburg (14-12, 6-7) scored at least one run in the first five innings en route to a 10-8 win over York (12-11, 7-6).
Senior right-hander Cody Harman posted his third win of the season, improving to 3-0 in 2017. Harman tossed 6.0 innings, giving up eight hits and five runs (four earned) with four strikeouts. After allowing two runs in the first, Harman retired 13 of 14 Spartan batters spanning the first through fifth innings.
Through six appearances this season, Harman's earned run average (ERA) sits at 3.50.
Five different Bobcats recorded multiple-hits, including four from senior Brad Garrant. Senior JT Tipton and junior Matt Bougourd notched three hits, while juniors Kyle Burger and Logan Corrigan had two hits each. Burger and Garrant each tallied a game-high three RBI.
After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the Bobcats countered back with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Bougourd plated Tipton with an RBI single to right for the Bobcats first run and Garrant scored Bougourd just two batters later to tie the game at two.
Frostburg extended its lead with four runs in the second inning. With two on and one out, Tipton smoked a single through the left side to score junior Matt Jeffery. Junior Kyle Burger, the next batter, scored two with a single to put the Bobcats up 5-2. Burger advanced to second on an error by the right fielder. Bougourd cracked a single through the right side to score Burger and give the Bobcats a 6-2 lead.
The Bobcats hit solo homers in back-to-back innings to take an 8-2 lead. Garrant whacked a solo shot to left field in the third, while Burger delivered in the fourth with a solo home run to right center.
Frostburg added one more run in the fourth and fifth inning to take a commanding 10-2 edge.
York (Pa.) looked to rally with one run in the sixth and five in the seventh, cutting the Bobcat lead to 10-8.
Sophomore Blake Clift recorded his first career save with 2.0 innings of scoreless relief. Clift walked three, but did not allow a hit or run and started the eighth with back-to-back strikeouts
Frostburg returns to action against St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday, April 8 for Senior Day. First pitch for the CAC doubleheader is set for noon.
