FROSTBURG, Md. – With the regular season in the books, the Frostburg State men's lacrosse team has earned the fifth seed in the 2017 CAC Tournament and will play in the first round this Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
 
The Bobcats (9-6, 5-3 CAC) will travel to fourth-seeded Mary Washington (8-7, 5-3 CAC) for the opening round matchup in Fredericksburg, Va.
 
The two programs are very familiar with one another when it comes to CAC Tournament action. Wednesday's showdown marks the third-straight season that Frostburg and Mary Washington will square off and the fourth meeting in five years of tournament play.
 
The Bobcats lost to the Eagles 11-6 in 2013, but FSU has defeated UMW 20-13 and 7-6, respectively, in each of the last two tournaments. In 2015, the two schools met in the semifinals and Frostburg made its first appearance in the CAC Championship after downing the Eagles 20-13.
 
However, UMW defeated Frostburg 9-7, last week, at Bobcat Stadium sending FSU into the tournament as the fifth seed.
 
Wednesday's other first-round matchup will feature sixth-seeded Southern Virginia (6-8, 3-5 CAC) at third-seeded Christopher Newport (10-5, 5-3 CAC) at 4:00 pm.
 
The winner of FSU/UMW will advance to face No. 1 ranked and top-seeded Salisbury (15-1, 8-0 CAC) on Saturday April 29. The winner of the SVU/CNU matchup will visit second-seeded York (Pa.) (15-2, 7-1 CAC) that same day.
 
The winner of the '17 CAC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
