Men's Lacrosse Drops Regular-Season Home Finale

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State surrendered four goals in the fourth quarter and suffered a 9-7 loss to Mary Washington, Wednesday in a key CAC matchup.
 
The Bobcats settle at 8-6 overall on the season, while the Eagles improve to 7-7.
 
However, the game evens the two team's league records at 4-3 and both are tied for fourth in the league standings.
 
The Bobcats will travel to St. Mary's this Saturday for a 1:00 pm showdown.
 
The Eagles four fourth-quarter goals erased a 7-5 lead at the end of the third quarter. UMW also found the net three-straight times to open the third quarter and tied the contest at 5-5.
 
The Bobcats closed out the third with back-to-back goals from junior Keegan Colegrove (5:20) and freshman Jimmy Lucas (3:44) for a 7-5 lead after three.
 
Four different players scored for Mary Washington in the fourth as it rallied for the win.
 
Colegrove led Frostburg with three goals and one assist, while senior Chase Cullison and junior Adam Gross each added one goal and one assist.
 
Cullison (13:56) and Colegrove (8:56) opened the afternoon with the game's first two goals.
 
The Bobcats also scored three goals in the second and kept the Eagles off the board as the hosts built a 5-2 halftime cushion. Freshman Jimmy Wagner (8:06), Gross (3:32) and Colegrove (2:53) all scored in the second to grab the momentum for Frostburg.
 
However, the second half was a different story as Mary Washington regained the momentum with the first three goals of the third quarter that evened things at 5-5.
 
Freshman keeper Jack Marks held his own in goal for Frostburg as he saved 14 shots, including eight in the second half.
 
Andrew Carlson finished with two goals and one assist for UMW, while Miles Davis handed out two assists and scored once. Eli Ayer won 12-of-20 faceoffs and picked up six ground balls.
 
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday when it travels to St. Mary's at 12:00 pm.
