Hallikas Scores Six; Frostburg Defeats Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. – Freshman Nikki Hallikas found the net six times to help lift the Frostburg women's lacrosse team to a narrow 12-10 victory over Shenandoah, Tuesday.

The Bobcats (3-3) survived a late charge from the Hornets as they scored three of the game's final five goals over the final 13:05 to pull to within one. Hallikas (6:39) and senior Molly Hart (1:06) helped seal the win as each found the net late in the second half.

The Hornets (1-3) never led in the ballgame but tied the game at 3-3 in the first half and knotted things again at 7-7 with a goal just after intermission.

Frostburg proved too strong and grabbed a 10-7 edge early in the second half with three-straight goals. Hallikas scored at 27:24 and again at 26:08 before sophomore Morgan Cavey found the net at 25:32.

Abby Zorrilla scored twice to narrow SU's deficit to 10-9 with 10:47 to play before Hallikas and Molly Hart sealed the victory.

Hallikas' six goals are the most for a Bobcat since March of 2015 and she used a balanced scoring effort with three in each half.

Hallikas also added two assists. The first helper came midway through the first as she found Cavey for a goal at 13:34 and she assisted Cavey's goal in the second. Cavey finished with three goals, while Molly hart had two.

Frostburg was outshot 29-27, but held a 14-10 advantage in draw controls and senior Dylan Teitelbaum stopped 11 shots, seven in the second stanza.

Zorrilla led Shenandoah in scoring with three goals, while Jacque Hemler had two.

Frostburg returns to action on Thursday at Susquehanna at 5:00 pm.
