SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Frostburg jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first half, but Susquehanna used a strong second stanza for a 14-13 win on Thursday.

The Bobcats fall to 3-4 on the season, while the Crusaders are now 2-2.

Freshmen Molly Biggers and Nikki Hallikas helped push the Bobcats to the 5-1 cushion just inside of 10 minutes gone on the first half clock.

Hallikas scored the contest's first goal just 1:55 into action for a 1-0 advantage. Moments later, Biggers scored back-to-back goals at 24:18 and again at 23:21, both off passes from Hallikas, as Frostburg led 3-1.

Senior Logan Brady found sophomore Morgan Cavey to make it 4-1 and the Hallikas to Biggers connection came through once again for another goal at 20:03 as FSU led 5-1.

Brady later found the net twice to help push Frostburg's lead to 7-2. Hallikas handed out the first assist at 15:18, before senior Jamie Twardowicz found Brady with 8:48 to play.

Seniors Emani Byrd and Megan Hart connected on a goal late in the first half that put FSU ahead by five, 8-3 with 5:22 to play.

Susquehanna closed out the first half with a tally with 24 seconds left and it opened the second with a goal just 22 seconds into action.

Frostburg then scored three-straight goals from junior Courtney Ridenour (26:22), Cavey (23:24) and Hallikas (22:54) as it pushed its edge to a game-high six, 11-5.

The hosts answered with nine of the game's next 10 goals over a 15-minute stretch that saw them take their first lead of the game. Following the run, Susquehanna led 14-12 with 7:00 left in regulation.

Senior Molly Hart scored the final goal for Frostburg to narrow the score to 14-13 with 1:57 left. The Bobcats unfortunately couldn't get another shot off before the final horn.

Senior keeper Dylan Teitelbaum played a big role in the first half by posting 12 saves to help keep Frostburg in the lead, despite being outshot 24-12. She notched four more saves in the second, but couldn't stop the Crusader rally.

SU finished with a 38-24 advantage in shots, but Frostburg held the edge in ground balls (24-16) and draw controls (16-13) and finished 15-of-19 on clears.

Hallikas again led the Bobcats in scoring with two goals and four assists, while Biggers posted a hat trick. Molly Hart and Logan Brady each contributed two goals and one assist.

Brooke Klair posted five goals and one assist and Liv Cohn added three goals to power the Crusaders.

Frostburg returns to action on Wednesday, March 15 when it hosts York (Pa.) at 4:00 pm.
