Bobcats Drop Home Contest To #7 York (Pa.)

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team endured a 19-7 loss at the hands of No. 7 York (Pa.), Monday night at Bobcat Stadium.
 
The Bobcats fall to 5-6 with the loss, while the Spartans improve to 6-2.

For the fifth time this season, freshman Nikki Hallikas led the way in scoring (points) for Frostburg with one goal and four assists. She also added five draw controls and scored her only goal on a free position attempt with 1.9 seconds left in the opening half.
 
Sophomore Morgan Cavey notched a hat trick with three goals and scored Frostburg's first goal of the game after the Spartans opened with the contest's first eight goals.
 
Cavey also closed the action of the evening with a goal from Hallikas with 2:11 left in regulation. Senior Logan Brady finished with two goals and one assist, while fellow senior Molly Hart scored once.
 
In net, senior Dylan Teitelbaum notched 14 saves, her fourth highest total of the season behind eight in the second half.
 
Regan Cook scored four goals for the visitors, while Skye Slater and Claudia DiVenti added three goals each.
 
Cavey's first goal of the game cut Frostburg's deficit to 8-1 just over 11 minutes into action and her second score just past the midway point of the first narrowed the Bobcat deficit to 11-2.
 
Brady (5:56) and Hallikas (1.9) closed out the first half with goals as Frostburg trailed 12-4 at intermission.
 
The Spartans opened the second half with a 5-0 run that increased its cushion to 17-4. Cook capped the five-goal run with the final two scores at 24:19 and again at 21:31.
 
Hart, Brady and Cavey connected on goals for the Bobcats starting at 14:01 and eventually narrowed the final score to 19-7.
 
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday, April 1 when it travels to Christopher Newport at 1:00 pm.
