Bobcats Drop Non-Conference Home Game To RMC

FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team suffered a setback at the hands of the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon by the final of 20-11.

The Bobcats (1-2) started the game off strong, opening up a 7-3 lead halfway through the first 30 minutes. Sophomore Morgan Cavey would strike for two of her three first half goals during this stretch, with seniors Megan Hart, Emani Byrd and Alyssa Barlow along with junior Courtney Ridenour and freshman Nikki Hallikas getting in on the goal scoring act as well.

Randolph-Macon (1-0) stormed back with five unanswered goals to take a one-goal advantage with three and a half minutes remaining in the first half.

The teams traded goals in the final two minutes of the first half and the Yellow Jackets would head into the locker room holding a one-goal, 9-8 edge at the midway break.

The Yellow Jackets put up 11 goals in the second half with runs of three, two, two and four goals to notch the road win.

Cavey led the way for the Bobcats with a hat trick, all in the first half. Hallikas, Barlow and Byrd all chipped in two goals while senior goalie Dylan Teitelbaum made 18 saves on the afternoon.

Junior Alicia Hsieh who finished the game with nine goals and an assist led RMC in scoring. She finished her sophomore season tenth in the nation in goals with 74.

The Bobcats will return to action on Wednesday when they play host to Washington & Jefferson at 6:00 pm.
