FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg women's basketball team dropped Eastern Mennonite, Tuesday by 14, 81-67, behind 13 three-pointers, while shooting nearly 50 percent from beyond the arc.
The Bobcats also collected their third-straight win after winning the 15
th-annual Jim Crawley Tournament this weeked and they are now 3-1.
Eastern Mennonite settles at 2-2 despite shooting over 50 percent from the floor and outrebounding FSU 38-29.
Both teams finished with three players in double figures as sophomore Victoria Diggs poured in a game-high 20 points for Frostburg. Junior Megan Kelly added 15 points and sophomore Sydney Stotler contributed 14.
Diggs knocked down six of her seven shots from beyond the arc and handed out seven assists. Meanwhile, all five of Kelly's baskets were three-pointers and she added four assists. Stotler grabbed a team-best six rebounds.
Senior Adjowa Pinkrah and Stotler opened the afternoon with layups and Diggs connected on her first three-pointer as the Bobcats opened up a 7-4 advantage less than two minutes into the game.
Kelly answered with a three-pointer moments later and Frostburg finished the first quarter with a 27-20 lead behind four three-pointers.
Senior Sharyce Warren hit a basket to give the Bobcats a nine-point cushion early in the second before the visiting Royals rallied to bring the score to within one on two occasions late in the frame. Stotler capped the first half with free throw as FSU led 38-36 at halftime.
EMU rallied again in the third after trailing by five and led by six, 55-49 late in the third when Hope Simmons hit a layup.
Diggs connected on yet another three-pointer with 1:38 showing in the third and junior Jasmin Tirado-Viscalla closed out the third with a running three-pointer at the buzzer that gave Frostburg a 59-55 edge.
The fourth and final frame belonged to the Bobcats as they outscored EMU by 10. Sophomore Amanda Emory closed the ballgame with a three-pointer from the top of the key and converted a contested layup as time expired.
Chrissy Delawder and Jess Washington led the Royals with 16 points each, while Chey Suamataia-Teo added 11.
Frostburg returns to action on Monday, Nov. 27 when it travels to Juniata at 7:00 pm.
