Bobcats Win Jim Crawley Tournament in Overtime

Victoria Diggs was named the tournament MVP in the victory

FROSTBURG, Md. – Sophomore guard Victoria Diggs made two three-pointers in the final 12 seconds of regulation to send the Jim Crawley Tournament title game into overtime, and the Bobcats topped Rutgers-Camden 83-79.
 
Diggs scored 21 points, and knocked down five three-pointers for the second-straight game. She also registered a career-high 10 assists to notch her first career double-double. For her efforts, she was named the tournament MVP.
 
Senior guard Sharyce Warren finished with a game-best 27 points on 11-17 shooting, with three rebounds and three assists. The Bobcats converted 12 of 31 three-point attempts and shot 46.3 percent from the field. Warren joined Diggs on the Jim Crawley All-Tournament Team.
 
The Bobcats began the game with a three-point barrage, with Diggs hitting two three pointers in the first three minutes of the contest. Warren and junior guard Megan Kelly each added a triple in the quarter as well. The Bobcats led 26-19 after the first quarter on 11-16 shooting.
 
Warren poured in 10 points in the second quarter and the Bobcats maintained a seven-point lead heading into the half (44-37).
 
Rutgers-Camden opened the third quarter on an 11-3 run to take a 48-47 lead, but Warren's layup helped the hosts regain the lead. Kelly's three with 45 seconds remaining in the third gave the Bobcats a 55-53 advantage, and sophomore forward Amanda Emory converted a layup in the final moments to give the Bobcats a four-point lead going into the fourth. Junior guard Jasmine Tirado-Viscalla assisted on both buckets.
 
Rutgers-Camden opened the fourth on a 7-1 spurt and Bobcats played catchup for most of the final 10 minutes of regulation. Frostburg cut the Raptors lead to two points on a free-throw by junior Adjowa Pinkrah with 2:05 remaining. Neither team scored until Camden extended its lead to three with 30 seconds left.
 
Rutgers-Camden split two more trips to the free-throw line to take a 72-67 lead with 19 seconds remaining. Diggs knocked down consecutive clutch triples to push the game into overtime with the scored tied at 73.
 
In overtime, the Bobcats took control with six straight points to take a 80-74 lead. Pinkrah scored twice in the spurt, with a steal and layup and a put-back with 36 seconds remaining. Rutgers-Camden cut the lead to one before Warren and Stotler made three of four free-throws to ice the game.
 
Pinkrah finished with 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Kelly made a pair of three-pointers on her way to 10 points. Tirado-Viscalla dished out 5 assists, and junior forward Amber Downey grabbed 8 rebounds.
 
The win gives Frostburg its first Jim Crawley Tournament championship since 2007 when the Bobcats defeated Waynesburg 61-41.
 
The Bobcats return to Bobcat Arena next Tuesday against Eastern Mennonite at 4:00 p.m.
