NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Christopher Newport scored a pair of second half goals to defeat visiting Frostburg State, 2-0 in CAC men's soccer action, Saturday evening.
 
Andrew Gogolin scored in the 52^nd minute and Derek Cook added a goal seven minutes later for the 2-0 Captain win.
 
The loss drops Frostburg to 3-8-2 overall and 1-3 in the CAC. The Captains, meanwhile, won for the eighth-straight game and improved to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the CAC.
 
Bobcat freshman goalie Juan Bofill made his eighth start in net and registered seven saves. He made his first save of the night inside the first minute of action off a shot from the Captains' Stephen Durbin.
 
He made two more saves in the first half and posted back-to-back saves in the 54^th and 58^th minutes in the second half.
 
Sophomore Josh McRobie attempted Frostburg's first shot on goal just 3:28 into the first half, forcing CNU keeper Zach Pedini to make the save.
 
In the 66^th minute, junior Brett Basham had a shot on goal saved by Pedini as well. Senior Ernie Williams had a good chance inside the final five minutes of regulation. Sophomore Mitchell Love crossed a ball off a corner kick that Williams poked on net and Pedini knocked over the crossbar.
 
The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday when they visit York (Pa.) at 7:00 pm.
