Bobcat Swimming Teams Split With W&J and Alderson Broaddus

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Frostburg State men's and women's swimming teams battled both Washington & Jefferson and Alderson Broaddus on Saturday and both Bobcat teams came away with a split.

The Bobcat men defeated AB, 107-15 and were narrowly edged by the Presidents, 75-61. Meanwhile, the Frostburg women's team downed AB, 91-32 and endured a close 72-67 loss to W&J.
 
The splits drop the men's and women's overall records to 7-2 on the season.
 
Senior Christian March swept his three individual events for the third-straight meet and he boasts 11 victories in four meets this season. He took home wins on Saturday afternoon in the 50-yard breaststroke (27.56), 50-yard freestyle (22.21) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.80).
 
March also helped the 200-yard medley relay team of first-year Anthony Giuseppetti, first-year Brady Peterson and first-year Luke Holloway open the meet with a win in 1:43.56.
 
Senior Macey Nitchie and junior Maddie Weinberger captured three wins each at W&J.
 
Nitchie is a perfect 11-for-11 this season in individual wins and she posted three more victories in the 50 (25.23), 100 (54.25) and 200-yard freestyles (1:59.43).
 
Her three wins on Saturday mark the third-straight meet in which she captured the title in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles.
 
Weinberger also collected the trifecta on the afternoon, winning the 50 (32.22) and 200-yard breaststrokes (2:38.00) and rounding out her day with another win in the 100-yard IM (1:05.35). Her three wins push her total to nine this season.
 
First-year Luke Holloway finished with a pair of wins for the Bobcat men in the 100 (50.94) and 200-yard freestyle (1:53.96), while sophomore Becca Marsh was first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:58.06) and second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:51.46).
 
Sophomore Jacob Auerbach won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:14.91), sophomore Valerie Yoder took first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:36.91) and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Marsh, Yoder, first-year Taylor Stanback and sophomore Megan Culbertson were first in 4:09.74.
 
Giuseppetti registered three runner-up showings in the 50 (27.07) and 200-yard backstrokes (2:13.10) to go along with the 100-yard IM (58.97).
 
Frostburg returns to action next Saturday as it opens CAC action when it hosts Salisbury at 1:00 pm.
