Men and Women Each Collect Three Wins

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Frostburg men's and women's swimming teams dominated on their second weekend of the season collecting three wins each at a meet at the McDonogh School, Saturday.

The Bobcat men posted wins over Goucher (146-56), Hood (158-42) and host Stevenson (176-15), while the women swept Goucher (118-86), Hood (158-42) and Stevenson (129-73).
 
Both Bobcat teams are a perfect 4-0 on the season.
 
The senior tandem of Macey Nitchie and Christian March made it a clean sweep in their individual events, winning all three in which they entered.
 
Nitchie won the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.00), the 50-yard freestyle (24.98) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.18), while March was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (22.31), the 100-yard freestyle (49.54) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.32).
 
First-year Luke Holloway won the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.61) and took second in the 100-yard freestyle (51.30), while classmate Anthony Giuseppetti captured a win in the 100-yard backstroke (57.51) and took runner-up in the 200-yard IM (2:11.47).
 
Junior Maddie Weinberger captured first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.59) and was second in both the 200-yard IM (2:23.43) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.10).
 
The Bobcat men capped the impressive afternoon with a win in the 200-yard freestyle. Sophomore Hunter McFalls, junior Casey Burton, senior Taylor Wade and first-year Andrew Wible swam to a 1:44.85.
 
Another pair of Frostburg relay teams captured runner-up finishes.
 
The 200-yard medley team of junior Casey Burton, sophomore Tharen Rice, first-year Sawyer Conklin and junior Gregory Thomas finished in 1:57.50, while the 200-yard freestyle team of sophomore Becca Marsh, first-year Meaghan Doyle, first-year Taylor Stanback and sophomore Elizabeth Myers recorded a 1:53.87.
 
Individually, Thomas took home second in the 50-yard freestyle (24.61), while sophomore Jacob Auerbach captured second in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.25) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.00).
 
Rounding out the second-place finishes were Myers in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.87) and junior Emily Turner in the 500-yard freestyle (5:43.94).
 
Frostburg returns to the pool this Friday for its home opener. The Bobcats host Roanoke, Mary Washington and Ferrum at 6:00 pm.
