MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team claimed its third-straight win on Wednesday afternoon with a 2-0 blanking of Penn State Harrisburg.
The win is not only the third straight for the Bobcats, but is the fourth win in their last five games and pushes their record to 6-7-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the league. FSU has shutout four of its six league opponents this fall.
The win keeps Frostburg in third place in the conference standings heading into the Bobcats' key matchup with in-state rival Salisbury this Saturday at 5:00 pm. The Gulls sit in second place, just a half game ahead of FSU.
Shehade scored twice in the win Wednesday, both in the second half, and she has collected an impressive resume as of late.
She accepted a pass from junior Danielle Ferris and scored in the 82
nd minute, while in the 86
th minute, Shehade scored on a penalty kick to seal the 2-0 shutout.
The two scores raise her season total to a team-high eight and she currently ranks fifth in the CAC in goals. In the last three contests, Shehade has found the net a total of five times and was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for her efforts.
Frostburg held a narrow 12-10 edge over Penn State Harrisburg (10-6, 3-4) in shots with 11 of those attempts on goal.
Lion keeper Kayla Arnold stepped up with nine saves to keep her team from falling behind any further. Bobcat junior Emily Faust posted her third-straight league win and finished with five saves. She has allowed just one goal in her last three starts.
Frostburg hosts the Sea Gulls this Saturday for senior day at 5:00 pm.
