FROSTBURG, Md. – Seniors Naya Cheatem and Zoe Harris combined for 26 kills while senior Madelyn Torres dished out a season-high 42 assists as the Frostburg State volleyball team edged York (Pa.), 3-2, Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Bobcat Arena.

Frostburg moves to 15-8 on the season and 3-2 in league play after winning in set scores of 25-21, 17-25, 25-19, 17-25 and 20-18 over York (16-7, 2-2).
Cheatem led the Frostburg offensive attack once again, hitting .289 with 17 kills and nine digs. Harris finished the afternoon with nine kills and eight digs.
Senior libero Lindsey Scepura posted a team-high 33 digs. The Ellicott City, Md. Native has recorded at least 300 digs in each of her four seasons as a Bobcat.
After Scepura, three other Bobcats finished the match with double-digit digs. Torres finished with 18 digs, sophomore Kathryn Lough had 17 and sophomore Cori Smothers had 16.
Senior right side Jessica Bugtong led the Bobcat blocking effort with six total blocks, followed by Harris with four.
Frostburg, which played its seventh five-set match of the season, hit .124 with 51 kills and 17 team blocks.
The Bobcats started strong and took the first set 25-21. Cheatem and Torres started the set with a kill each to put the Bobcats up 2-0 early. After a back-and-forth exchange, a kill from Cheatem and York (Pa.) attack error extended the Bobcats lead to 22-18. Sophomore middle hitter Biamba Tshitenge sealed the set victory with a kill.
York (Pa.) responded with a 25-17 victory in the second set. Frostburg countered with a 25-19 victory in the third set, led by four kills from Harris and two kills from first-year outside hitter Gianna Carmona.
The Spartans claimed a 25-17 victory in the fourth set, tying the match at two and sending the contest to a fifth set. In the fifth, Frostburg jumped out to a 3-1 lead and followed it up with a pair of kills from Tshitenge to give the Bobcats a 7-4 advantage. A kill from Cheatem staved off a match-clinching point for York and a kill from Torres put the Bobcats up 15-14. After trading points, Frostburg scored the final two points of the day, including the match-clinching kill to give the Bobcats a 20-18 set victory.
Brooke Krebs led the offensive charge with 19 kills for the Spartans and Alexis Harbold finished with 52 digs.
Frostburg returns to the court for a conference road match on Friday, October 20 against Mary Washington at 6:00 p.m.
