FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team rolled past York (Pa.), 4-1, on a foggy Wednesday night at Bobcat Stadium.
With the win, Frostburg State improved to 4-7-2 overall and 3-1-1 in Capital Athletic Conference play.
The Bobcats mustered a total of 16 shots on the night, with 11 of them coming in the first half, while York (Pa.) was only able to generate seven.
Sophomore Brook Shehade led the Bobcats with two goals in the game. Shehade's first goal was an impressive left footed chip shot just inside the 18 yard box that went right over York's goalkeeper Jess Wieber to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
At the 5:38 mark junior Danielle Ferris put the Bobcats up 2-0 as Shehade's shot was blocked but Ferris was there for the rebound to put it past Wieber.
Sophomore Jesse Dunagan found the back of the net on a fast-break at 35:39 to give Frostburg a 3-0 lead off an assist from junior Hailey Turney. The Bobcats held that 3-0 at intermission.
York's lone goal came early in the second half at 47:54 as Emily Munkittrick found a way past junior goalkeeper Emily Faust to make the score 3-1.
Faust finished the game with four saves.
Shehade's second goal of the night came in the second half at 83:06 off a breakaway as she put the ball, this time by York's Sydney Kahn to find the back of the net giving the Bobcats a 4-1 lead.
Frostburg State is back in action Saturday as it travels to Marymount. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
