PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Frostburg State men's soccer team carried a 2-1 lead into halftime, but it wasn't enough as eighth-ranked Kenyon scored twice in the second half to rally past the Bobcats, 3-2.
The Bobcats (1-4) received an own goal in the 22
nd minute to break onto the scoreboard as Kenyon's Bret Lowry headed the ball into his own net while trying to clear it from the 18-yard box.
The Lords (4-0) answered moments later when Oliver Wynn knotted things at 1-1 on a free kick goal.
It didn't take long for Frostburg to recapture the lead as twenty eight seconds later, freshman Matt Morris found classmate Josh Mcrobie for a 2-1 advantage that the Bobcats took into halftime.
In the second stanza, Jordan Glassman evened things at 2-2 with a goal in the 59
th minute. In the 80
th minute, Kenyon hit the game-winner when Tony Amolo hit the back of the net for the 3-2 win.
Kenyon dominated the offensive numbers as it outshot Frostburg 22-4, including a 19-2 edge in corner kicks.
Bobcat senior keeper Hassan Mostafa finished with eight saves, including six in the second half as Kenyon turned up the energy on offense.
FSU returns to Bobcat Stadium this Thursday when it hosts Penn State Altoona at 7:00 pm.
