Three Bobcats Named On All-ECAC Teams

DANBURY, Conn. – Frostburg senior KJ Hockaday, junior Devin Bell and sophomore Greg Schneider were named on the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII South Teams as announced by the conference, Tuesday.

Hockaday was named on the All-ECAC first-team as a second baseman while Bell was also a first-team selection as an outfielder. Schneider, FSU's starting pitcher, earned a spot on the second team.

Both Hockaday and Bell have received several post-season honors such as first-team selections on the D3baseball.com All-South Region team and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-South Region team. Earlier this spring, the duo picked up All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) First Team honors as well.

Schneider, a D3baseball.com Preseason All-American, also earned a spot on the All-CAC First Team earlier this spring and was named to the All-South Region Second Team.

Hockaday, a second basemen from Joppa, Md., led the Bobcats in batting average (.309), on-base percentage (.500), runs scored (48), hits (55), doubles (12), triples (4) and total bases (96).

He ended the season with a hit in 33 of the 36 games in which he appeared and totaled 12 stolen bases.

Bell returned from an injury in mid-April to pace the Bobcats in slugging percentage (.813), RBI (44) and home runs (13).  He also posted two games with six RBI towards the end of the season.

Schneider emerged as one of the nation's top pitchers this season and finished 4th nationally in strikeouts per nine innings (12.22) and 14th in total strikeouts (91.0) as well as finished at the top of the CAC in both categories.

He finished the season with a 6-2 overall record on the mound, posting one save and a 3.49 ERA.

The Bobcats finished their 2016 campaign with a 30-14 overall record that included their second-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. FSU captured the CAC regular season title and spent 10 weeks ranked inside the D3baseball.com Top 25.
