Bobcats Fall #1 Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – The Frostburg State men's lacrosse team suffered a 13-3 defeat at No. 1 ranked Salisbury, Saturday in CAC action.

The host Sea Gulls (15-0, 7-0) remained undefeated behind a quick start that saw five goals in the opening quarter that led to a 5-0 cushion after one.

Frostburg (12-3, 3-3) rebounded early in the second quarter when it found back-to-back goals from sophomore Ethan Aikin and senior Nick Stailey. Aikin scored an unassisted tally, his 12th goal of the season, 38 seconds into the second quarter. Freshman Adam Gross assisted Stailey's goal at 10:11 that further cut into the Salisbury lead at 5-2.

The Bobcats attempted to keep up the momentum, but SU extended its lead to 6-2 just before halftime.

The Sea Gulls put the game out of reach with seven-consecutive goals to open the second half that continued until late in the fourth quarter.

Gross handed out his second assist of the afternoon with under a minute to play in the fourth quarter when he found senior Michael Kibler for the Bobcat's third and final goal. Gross now has a team-best 18 assists this season.

Frostburg senior keeper Tom Kraemer stopped 12 shots in the game, his fifth game this spring with 10 or more saves in a contest. Senior Tate Rolland caused four turnovers and led the Bobcats with five ground balls.

Frostburg travels to Mary Washington this Wednesday for a 4:00 pm contest.
