CLERMONT, Fla. – Junior Hannah Tavik threw her second career no-hitter as the Frostburg State softball team earned a 6-1 victory over Agnes Scott, Thursday afternoon. The Bobcats fell to William Patterson, 6-3, earlier in the day.
In game one, the Bobcats (9-5) jumped out to an early lead in the first inning over the undefeated Pioneers (8-0) and stayed in control most of the ball game before William Patterson pulled away in the seventh inning to earn the win.
Senior Taylor Blevins powered the Bobcat offense, hitting a two-run triple in the first inning to give FSU the lead.
The Pioneers scored their first run of the game in the fifth inning from a RBI single from Rachel Wasilak. Two more runs for William Patterson in the sixth inning gave the Pioneers a 3-2 advantage.
However, a RBI single from freshman Ali Caulkins brought Blevins in to score and tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning.
In the seventh inning, the Pioneers hit a RBI single and a two-run double to ultimately seal the victory.
Blevins went 3-for-3 including two RBI and a triple, while Caulkins went 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Sophomore Allison Short threw all seven innings for the Bobcats and struck out two.

Tavik totaled seven strikeouts, zero hits and only one run in the second game of the day, while picking up her sixth win in a row this season.
The Scotties were first on the board scoring one run in the first inning from a sacrifice fly; however it was all FSU after that.
Senior Renay Aubel hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning to score junior Jessica Dubbs and knot the game, 1-1.
In the sixth inning, sophomore Rae Harrison hit a RBI single to score Blevins and give the Bobcats the lead. Senior Lauren Capece hit a grand slam, her first of the season to extend the Bobcat lead by four runs and ultimately give FSU the win.
Dubbs went 3-for-4 including two sacrifice bunts while Capece finished one-for-four with a grand slam.
The Bobcats will close out the NTC Spring Games tomorrow with matchups against Wisconsin- River Falls and Westfield State. The games will begin at 9 am and 11 am, respectively.
