NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Sophomore goalie Rhianna Lapen made seven saves on the evening, but the Bobcats were unable to get on the scoreboard in a 1-0 loss to top-seeded Christopher Newport in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship Saturday evening.

Tonight's matchup marked only the fifth time since 2001 that the top two seeds faced each other for the CAC Women's Soccer Championship.

Frostburg (10-9-1) got off to a fast start with a corner kick by senior Jessi Martz in the 2nd minute and a shot from junior Melanie Bell in the 7th minute.

Christopher Newport (16-2-1) scored the lone goal of the night in 16
th minute. Carson Pokorny scored the goal and Victoria Perry recorded the assist.

Sophomore Danielle Ferris had a header attempt that was saved by Carly Maglio in the 56
th minute.

Frostburg will now await a potential bid into the upcoming ECAC tournament. An announcement regarding the participants will be made Monday.
