CRESSON, Pa. – Three players made it into double-figures, but the Frostburg State women's basketball team was unable to muster enough offense in an 87-69 defeat at Mt. Aloysius in non-conference action Tuesday night.
Frostburg (1-3) was paced by sophomore guard Megan Kelly, who tallied a team-high 16 points on 4-of-10 shooting. Kelly had three rebounds, converted 4-of-7 three-point (57%) chances and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line.
As a team, the Bobcats shot 25-of-63 (39.7%) from the field. Mt. Aloysius (1-2) shot 32-of-70 (45.7%) from the field.
Junior forward Alexis Welch and senior forward Kirsten Rayner also amassed double-figures for the Bobcats. Welch scored 14 points and snared eight rebounds and Rayner contributed 13 points to go along with nine rebounds.
Frostburg outscored the Mounties in the second half, 45-41. The Bobcats held the edge third quarter scoring, 25-24, and outscored the Mounties in the fourth period, 20-17.
Frostburg also had the edge in second-chance points, 13-12.
Frostburg will return home on Monday, November 28, when the Bobcats welcome Juniata to Bobcat Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
