Bobcats Fall To #19 CNU

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team surrendered a goal in each half in a 2-0 loss to 19th-ranked Christopher Newport, Saturday afternoon.
 
The Bobcats settle at 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC), while the Captains improve to 10-1 overall and remain perfect in the league at 4-0.
 
CNU held a 16-6 edge in shots, including a 9-4 edge in the second half.
 
Danielle Pratt scored an unassisted tally in the 22nd minute off a rebounded save. Gabby Gillis made it 2-0 at 63:27 when she scored off an assist from Angie Williams.
 
Junior Melanie Bell had an attempt saved for the Bobcats in the early going when her ball was turned away by CNU keeper Carly Maglio at 9:56. Junior Alyssa Malanik had another shot saved in the second half at 55:45 and junior Lia Kelly had Frostburg's final shot in the 77th minute.
 
Sophomore Rhianna Lapen made eight saves in goal for Frostburg four in each half. Newport's Maglio notched four saves for the win.
 
Frostburg travels to York (Pa.) this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
