YORK, Pa. – Frostburg freshman Brooke Shehade scored the game's only goal in the waning minutes to carry the Bobcats past York (Pa.), 1-0, Wednesday.
The Bobcats outshot the host Spartans, 16-7, and they finally found the net on their 13
th attempt of the afternoon.
Shehade scored her fourth on the season at 81:15 on a shot from the top of the box that found the upper right corner of the goal.
Frostburg tried to add to its lead with four more shots over the final eight minutes. Senior Jessi Martz hit a shot over the crossbar at 82:09, while Shehade and sophomore Danielle Ferris had back-to-back shots saved at 87:08 and 87:15.
Frostburg's final shot of the night came at 87:42 when Shehade hit the post.
The victory carries FSU to 6-8 overall and 3-2 in league play, while the loss drops the Spartans to 3-9-1 and 1-4.
Shehade and Martz led Frostburg with five shots each, while sophomore Rhianna Lapen needed just one save for her fourth win of the fall.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday when they visit Salisbury at 1:00 pm.
