WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Frostburg State women's field hockey team went out of conference on Tuesday night and fell to Washington & Jefferson, on the road by the score of 5-0.
With the loss the Bobcats fell to 5-6 overall on the season and remain at 0-1 in conference play. Washington & Jefferson improved to a perfect 10-0 on the season and 4-0 in conference play.
W&J scored four goals in the first half and would tack on one more in the second half to give them the 5-0 victory.
Amanda Steffey would open the scoring for W&J just 51 seconds into the game when she smashed a one timer between the legs of Bobcats keeper Jacqueline Gover. She would finish with two of the Presidents' five goals on the night.
The Bobcats were outshot 22-2 on the night. Gover and Nicole Leighty split time in goal for FSU. Gover made four saves in 25 minutes in net and Leighty made seven saves in 45 minutes of action.
The Bobcat women's field hockey team will next be in action when they travel to Dover, Del. to take on the Wesley Wolverines on Sunday Oct. 9 and 12:00 p.m.
