FROSTBURG, Md. – Three different players scored as Mary Washington earned a 3-0 victory over host Frostburg, Tuesday, in CAC field hockey action.
The Eagles (8-4, 2-1) scored once in the first half and tacked on two more in the second. Shelby Press scored the game winner in the 31
st minute off a pass from Allegra Massey-Elim.
The Bobcats had one shot in each half and both attempts were saved by UMW keeper Jessica Cavolt.
Junior Ivy Meissner had her shot knocked away at 10:03, while a blast from sophomore Ashleigh Myers was kicked aside by Cavolt in the 54
th minute.
Senior Jacqueline Gover had an impressive evening in goal for Frostburg with a season-best 14 saves.
It marks the most saves for Gover since a 19-save effort in the 2015 season opener against Dickinson when she turned away 19 shots. Against Mary Washington, she registered nine saves in each half.
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday when it hosts fourth-ranked Salisbury at 12:00 pm.
