FROSTBURG, Md. – In its final home game of the season, the Frostburg State volleyball team fell to Capital Athletic Conference rival Marymount (Va.), 3-2, in an exciting five-set set game, Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Arena.

Marymount (20-6, 6-1) won the first set, 25-15, however the Bobcats fought back to win sets two and three, 25-23, 25-18, respectively. In an exciting fourth set, the Saints managed to slip past FSU, 25-21, to force a fifth set. The final set opened with points exchanged back-and-forth before the Saints won, 15-12 to take the match.
Marymount led in kills, 64-47, aces, 7-4, assists, 60-45 and digs, 91-85. However, the Bobcats outplayed the Saints in blocks, 12-9.
On offense, junior Zoe Harris led the team with 15 kills followed by her classmate Naya Cheatem with 12. Freshman Biamba Tshitenge tallied nine blocks while Cheatem added eight. Junior Madelyn
Torres notched 32 assists and two service aces while freshman Kathryn Lough led the defense behind 22 digs.
Marymount used a four-point rally to start set one off with an 8-5 lead, however, FSU cut the lead down to one, 9-8. The Saints scored six unanswered points to surge ahead of the Bobcats, 15-8 and did not slow down the rest of the set. In the final points of the set, MU's Margaret McAlpin used two kills to seal the victory, 25-15.
Set two opened up with a back-and-forth battle for points, with neither team gaining more than a two-point advantage. However, FSU broke open the lead outscoring the Saints, 7-1 in an eight point stretch to go up, 18-12. The Saints used a five-point rally to cut the Bobcat lead to two points, 22-20, however the Bobcats did not give up and a Cheatem kill sealed the final point of the set as the Bobcats won, 25-23.
FSU used its momentum to build a strong lead in set three. The Bobcats went up 10-5 to start the set and maintained their lead throughout. Harris tallied four kills in the set while Torres notched three. The Bobcats outscored Marymount, 6-3, in the final stretch of the set to win, 25-18.
Marymount jumped out to an early, 8-4, lead in set four, however, FSU clawed its way back to cut the lead to one, 8-7. The Saints used six two-point rallies to build their lead over the Bobcats and eventually took the set, 25-21, to force a fifth set.
Both teams battled in the fifth and final set, forcing eight ties and three lead exchanges. MU scored three unanswered points to take a slight lead, 10-8, and the Bobcats could not catch up. The Saints scored the final two points of the set to win, 15-12.
