FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State was defeated by Christopher Newport, 3-0, in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) women's field hockey matchup Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.
CNU (13-4, 3-2) opened the scoring in the 24
th minute and added two more goals in the second half of play.
Frostburg (5-12, 0-5) had a chance to get on the board in the 68
th minute with a shot from sophomore Holly Van Wie that went wide of the goal.
Senior goalie Jacqueline Gover made 14 saves on the afternoon.
The senior class of Gover, Taylor Bowen and Jacquelyn Nava were recognized for Senior Day on the field prior to the start of the match.
Frostburg will resume play in the regular season finale on the road Wednesday, October 26 against York (Pa.) at 4:00 p.m.
