Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Frostburg Downs Salisbury, 2-0

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team picked up its second-straight Capital Athletic Conference win in a 2-0 shutout of Salisbury, Saturday.

The win moves the Bobcats to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in CAC play while the Sea Gulls drop to 3-3 in the CAC and 4-6-3 on the season.

The shot count remained an even 10 between the rivals; however the Bobcats slipped two goals past the Sea Gulls, one in each half, to earn the victory.

The first goal game at the 34:18 mark when junior Melanie Bell crossed the ball into the box and found sophomore Danielle Ferris. Ferris headed the ball past SU goalkeeper, Hope Knussman to put the Bobcats on the board, 1-0.

Salisbury opened the second half with five-consecutive shots, however FSU goalkeeper sophomore Rhianna Lapen made three saves and the FSU defense blocked a shot to hold the Sea Gulls scoreless.

The next shot of the game turned out to be a Bobcat goal from junior Katie Broadhurst in the 74th minute. Broadhurst received a pass from freshman Jesse Dunagan to earn her second goal of the season to give FSU a two-goal advantage.

Lapen played all 90 minutes in goal for FSU. She tallied six saves and did not allow a goal in the victory while SU's Knussman made five saves.

Next, the Bobcats return home for a CAC match against Penn State Harrisburg Wednesday, September 19th for a game set to start at 7 pm.
