BETHANY, W. Va. – The Frostburg State field hockey team bested the Bethany Bisons, 6-1, Wednesday night.
Senior Alexandra Darrow posted her third hat trick of the season, scoring four goals for the Bobcats in the win over Bethany.
Frostburg State (7-3) attacked the game right from the start, scoring just three minutes into the game when freshman Samantha Schaffer found the back of the cage off a pass from senior Jackie Best.
Not long after, Darrow started her offensive assault, scoring her first of four goals for the night in the 12
th minute of the game off an assist from junior Taylor Bowen.
It was Darrow again in the 16
th minute, when she drilled one past Bethany unassisted to lift the Bobcats to a 3-0 lead.
Only one minute after, a pass from Best to Darrow found the back of the cage and the Bobcats sailed to a 4-0 lead over the Bisons.
The Bethany Bisons scored their lone goal of the night at the end of the first half, when Morgan Turner hit one in off a pass from teammate Courtney Gill.
The second half of the game was all Bobcat domination as sophomore Ivy Meissner scored unassisted in the 43
rd minute to mark her first goal of the season.
Darrow scored her fourth and final goal of the night off a pass from junior Jacquelyn Nava at the 55:17 mark, to lift the Bobcats to a victory over the Bison. After an impressive four goals on the night, Darrow now stands at 18 goals for the season.
Frostburg outshot Bethany, 18-10. Bethany goalkeeper Courtney Snyder made seven saves, while Bobcat goalkeeper junior Jackie Gover ended the night with six saves and the win.
FSU returns to action Friday, October 2 when they take on Sweet Briar at Bobcat Stadium at 7:30 pm.
