BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Frostburg State field hockey team lost a close match-up with the Bridgewater Eagles, Saturday afternoon.
Bridgewater (2-6) scored early in the first half against Frostburg (6-3) when Elizabeth Washington tapped in a goal off of a corner from teammate Taylor Prillaman at the 10:12 mark.
The Bobcat offense answered 10 minutes later in the first half when senior Alexandra Darrow shot from the outside off of a corner from junior Jacquelyn Nava to tie the game 1-1. This marks Darrow's 14
th goal of the season and the seventh game in a row that she has put points on the board for the Bobcats.
The game remained tied at 1-1 throughout the rest of the first half and most of the second half with each team's defense stepping up and only allowing three shots total in the second half.
Bridgewater scored late in the second half in the 64
th minute of the game when Allison Kirk scored unassisted to push the Eagles over the Bobcats, 2-1.
Junior Jacqueline Gover remained in goal for the Bobcats the entire 70 minutes while the Eagles' goalkeeper Hannah Rioux made three saves on the day and walked away with the win.
The Bobcats return to action September 30, when they travel to Bethany for a game at 7:30 pm.
