Bobcats Drop To #7 CMU

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team dropped its match against #7 Carnegie Mellon, 3-1, Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats lost a tough battle to CMU, but it was not due to a lack of hard played defense. The Bobcats held the Spartans to only two goals the first half, while the Spartans outshot the Bobcats 10-1. Bobcat freshman Rhianna Lapen made six saves on the half.

Carnegie Mellon scored its first goal 21 minutes into the game when Halli Adams scored unassisted. The second goal of the game came from Grant Wilmer to teammate Carson Quiros who managed to find the net at the 22:56 mark.

The Bobcat offense stepped up during the second half of the game, matching the Spartans with four shots for the half.
The Bobcats solo goal came in the 62nd minute of the game when senior Chelsie McCoy found teammate senior Erin Worthman who headed the ball into the center of the goal, to make the game 2-1.

However, only two minutes after the FSU goal, Carnegie Mellon's Adams found the net once again to push the Spartans to a 3-1 victory.

FSU's goalkeeper Rhianna Lapen made seven saves on the day while Carnegie Melons goalkeeper, Sarah Maher finished with two saves and walked away with the win.

Frostburg State returns to the field Wednesday, Sept. 23 when they travel to McDaniel for a game at 4pm.
