ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Freshman Robert Romano earned medal honors to power the Frostburg State men's cross country team to a fifth place finish at the 2015 Seahawk Invitational at St. Mary's College, Saturday.
Meet Results FSU grabbed fifth place out of nine teams behind Romano's stellar race. The freshman covered the 6k course in 27:40 and was the 11
th overall finisher. However, because of a non-collegiate runner that earned eighth place, Romano moved up to 10
th in the final standings to earn his medal.
Bobcat junior Xavier Alvarez was Frostburg's second finisher as he crossed the line in 29:13. Alvarez earned 38
th-place overall and 32
nd in the team standings.
Senior Greg Horning and freshman Matthew Whitley each finished in the top-50 for Frostburg. Horning took 42
nd overall in 29:32, while Whitley was 47
th in 29:54.
Rounding out the top five were seniors Jeremy Brown and Adam Jenkins. Brown captured 55
th-place for Frostburg with a time of 30:29, while Jenkins was 63
rd in 31:06.
Junior Stanton Higham and senior Ryan Hipps finished back-to-back in 68
th and 69
th place, with times of 31:39 and 31:42, respectively.
Frostburg State returns to action next Saturday when it travels to the Dickinson College Long Short Invitational.
