FROSTBURG, Md – The Frostburg State men's soccer team posted its fifth shutout of the season when they bested Washington & Jefferson, 2-0, Saturday afternoon.
The game started off to an evenly matched defensive battle, both teams keeping the score 0-0 during the first half. The Presidents made five shots to Frostburg's three giving each team's goalie a pair saves for the half.
The Bobcat offense started to pick up in the second half, when freshman Carvell Akuffo dribbled past two defenders to find the net unassisted in the 56
th minute.
The final goal of the game came at the 61:04 mark when freshman Serigne Gueye drilled a goal into the net off a pass from freshman teammate, Guy Nabo.
The Bobcat defense stepped up during the remaining half of the game shutting out the Presidents from reaching the net.
Freshman goalkeeper Carlos Caro made his first career start for the Bobcats, making five saves on the day and walking away with the win. The Presidents goalkeeper, Benny Wilt made four saves on the day.
The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, Sept. 22 when they travel to Hood for a match at 4 pm.
