FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Stevenson in overtime, Friday evening.
The Stevenson Mustangs surged to an early lead in the first half when Ashlyn Hawbaker scored in the 40
th minute off an assist from Kailee Ziegler.
The rest of the first half was an evenly matched defensive battle between both teams, the Bobcats producing seven shots to the Mustang's eight.
The Bobcat offense kicked into gear during the second half, first with a goal from senior Brooke Longo who drilled one in during the 61
st minute off of a corner kick from senior Erin Worthman.
Frostburg State kept the offense rolling when the Bobcats scored again at the 73:40 mark when junior Leah Yurko scored from 25 yards out off of a free kick.
In the final six seconds of regulation, the Mustangs tied the game when Kellen Wittman found the net after a corner kick from Allie Ondrejcak.
Wittman scored again in overtime at the 94:40 mark to push Stevenson past the Bobcats for the win.
Senior goalkeeper Paige Gray had six saves on the night, while Stevenson's Katelynn Giannaccini made two saves, Sarah Turner had 10 saves and Tiffany McKee walked away with the overtime win.
Frostburg State returns to the field Sunday, Sept. 20 when they travel to Carnegie Mellon for a 3 pm game.
