FROSTBURG, Md. – A pair of first-half goals was all that the Frostburg State men's soccer team needed to post a 2-0 win over Eastern Mennonite, Sunday.
The Bobcats push their overall record to 4-1 with their fourth shutout win of the season. Frostburg's defense also kept Eastern Mennonite (1-3) from making a run as just two of the Royal's 12 shots were on goal. Junior keeper Hassan Mostafa made two saves for the victory.
In the 12
th minute, junior Nabayee Tesfu found freshman Guy Nabo for his team-leading fourth goal of the season for an early 1-0 Bobcat advantage.
Almost four minutes later, Frostburg capitalized on its second corner kick of the afternoon when freshman Serigne Gueye connected with senior Mitchell Muise for his first goal of the season and a 2-0 advantage.
Following Frostburg's two scores, EMU attempted four shots over the remainder of the first period and seven more in the second half but couldn't find the net. Mostafa needed just one save in each half.
Mathew Overracker made four saves in the loss and the Royal defense stopped a shot in 59
th minute to keep Frostburg just two goals ahead.
