Frostburg Slips Past Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. – Frostburg State sandwiched a pair of goals around halftime and held on for a 2-1 win over Shenandoah, Friday evening.

The Bobcats ended a small two-game losing skid with their third win of the season and currently sit at 3-2 overall.

Junior Leah Yurko scored her first goal in a Frostburg uniform just 17 seconds before halftime for a 1-0 cushion at the break.

Just over three minutes into the second stanza, senior Erin Worthman found senior Brooke Longo for the Bobcats' second goal and a 2-0 lead.

The back-to-back goals were all of the offense Frostburg needed up front but the visitors allowed a goal in the 54th minute and held on for the win. Shenandoah (0-5) outshot the Bobcats 17-13, including 10-6 in the first half.

Senior keeper Paige Gray made four saves for the victory, while her counterpart Erin Septer stopped five shots in the loss.
