CARLISLE, Pa. – Frostburg State opened the 2015 season on Tuesday with a 4-0 loss at Dickinson.
Bobcat junior keeper Jackie Gover stopped an impressive 19 shots in goal, including 14 in the opening half. The contest with the Red Devils (1-0) marks the third time in her career that she has notched 19 saves in game.
Frostburg (0-1) sophomore defender Liz Davis added a defensive save in the first half in the 31
st minute, turning away a shot from Dickinson's Catherine Perlmutter.
However, Dickinson earned the win behind a pair of goals in each half. Four different players scored for the Red Devils, while Julia Murphy handed out two assists. Chelsea Kramer scored the game winner in the 12
th minute of the opening period.
The Bobcats were outshot in the contest 35-7, but fared better in the second half as they limited Dickinson to just 12 shots. Gover added five saves in the second stanza.
Junior Jacquelyn Nava led the offensive effort for Frostburg with two shots, one on goal. Senior Alexandra Darrow also added a shot on goal for Frostburg.
