Bobcat Women Cruise At Home

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State wasted little time in building a decisive advantage over visiting St. Vincent, Wednesday, en route to a 22-5 win for the Bobcats.

Frostburg (7-3) opened with the game's first 12 goals for a 12-0 lead at 8:20. The Bearcats (5-6) ended their drought with a goal at 6:08, but it did little to slow the Bobcats as they added two more scores for a 14-1 halftime advantage.

Thanks to the victory, the Bobcats got back in the win column after having their six-game winning streak snapped this past Saturday. The win over St. Vincent marks the first time since the 2012 season that Frostburg has scored 22 goals in a contest. That season, FSU found the net 22 times in a home win over West Virginia Wesleyan.

For the second time in three games, Frostburg had 12 different players score a goal. Senior Malory Brunett led the way with four goals and sophomore Megan Hart added three.

Sophomore Charlotte Hines powered the team with six assists, three in each half. She also scooped up six ground balls and caused six turnovers.

As a team, Frostburg scored 22 goals on 40 shots, finished 12-for-12 on clears and caused 20 of St. Vincent's 27 turnovers. The Bobcats also held the Bearcats to just 7-for-22 on clear attempts.

After Frostburg surged to a 20-2 lead with 10:59 to play in regulation, St. Vincent scored three of the game's final goals and were led in scoring Maggie Nelson's two goals. Molly Snyder added two assists.

Frostburg returns to action this Saturday when it travels to Christopher Newport for a 1:00 pm CAC matchup.
