#16 Baseball Takes Down Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 16th-ranked Frostburg State baseball team rolled to a 7-2 win over Gallaudet Sunday afternoon to improve to 16-2 on the season.

The Bobcats are now 10-0 after scoring in the first inning as the Bobcats took a 1-0 lead off of senior Zach Weiss' two-out home run in the first. Frostburg pushed its lead to 2-0 when senior Lane Farmer drove in classmate Ricky Brady in the second.

The Bison got their first hit of the game in the third, but any scoring threat was erased with a doubleplay to end the frame.

Frostburg tacked on two more runs in both the seventh and eighth inning to push its lead to 6-0. Weiss scored the first run of the seventh on a wild pitch and junior Connor Cooper drove home senior Nick Walker with a first-pitch swinging single through the right side. Walker drove in the first run of the eighth with sacrifice fly to score junior JT Tipton. Brady gave the Bobcats their 6-0 lead with his sixth home run of the year.

The Bison scored their only two runs of the game in the eighth on two hits and one Bobcat error.

Frostburg plated its final run in the top of the ninth as junior Jamaal Windom come home after stealing third and advancing on a throwing error by the Bison catcher.

With runners on second and third, freshman Daniel Richardson got a double play to end the inning and game for Frostburg.

Freshman Garrett Wiles earned his first win on the mound for Frosburg after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing just three hits and three walks and striking out four.

Cooper and Farmer each finished the day going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Frostburg State returns to action when the Bobcats host York (Pa.) in their home opener on Wednesday at 3:00 pm at Bob Wells Field.
