Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Bobcats Clip Avenging Angels

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team pushed its winning streak to five games with a 12-9 win over Meredith, Tuesday evening.

The Bobcats (5-2) and Avenging Angels (6-3) traded the first six goals of the game over the opening 10 minutes for a 3-3 tie before Meredith took a 5-3 lead with two unanswered goals.

Meredith's lead would not last long, however, as the Bobcats rattled off three-straight, including freshman Courtney Ridenour's fourth of the year with just five seconds left in the half to take a 6-5 lead.
The Avenging Angels came out of the intermission firing and tied the game with a goal less than two minutes into the second half. Knotted at 6-6, Frostburg senior Malory Brunett and Ridenour went back-to-back to give Frostburg an 8-6 lead with 24:23 to play.

Alison Reisert and Lottie Meadows scored back-to-back goals to re-tie the game at 8-8 before the Bobcats went off for three straight to take an 11-8 lead with just 2:56 to play.

Jennifer Halvorson got the Avenging Angels to within one goal with her 11th of the season but sophomore Molly Hart capped off the scoring with her 11th of the year to give Frostburg a 12-9 victory.

Hart led the Bobcats with four goals while Brunett and Ridenour each netted three. Defensively, senior Jessica Jones, Brunett and sophomore Charlotte Hines each caused three turnovers while Hines paced the team with five groundballs. Sophomore Emani Byrd won five draws for Frostburg.

Sophomore Dylan Teitelbaum earned her fifth win in the cage for FSU with five saves over the 60 minutes of action.

The Bobcats get right back to action when they face St. Andrews in Laurinburg, N.C. tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
