Women’s Basketball Upended At Home

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg battled to a late tie and eventual lead on Mount Aloysius before suffering a 58-54 home loss to the Mounties, Tuesday.
 
Junior Kirsten Rayner hit back-to-back baskets at 3:49 and 2:33 that tied the game for Frostburg in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats (1-4) captured their only lead of the second half when Megan Kelly knocked down a free throw at 1:12 that handed the hosts a 54-53 lead.
 
Mt. Aloysius (1-3) hit a three-pointer on its ensuing trip down the floor and later hit a layup for the four-point victory.
 
The game featured 10 lead changes and 11 ties and both squads finished with 21 field goals and three three-pointers. The difference came at the foul line as Mount Aloysius made four more free throws than FSU.
 
Junior Kirsten Rayner posted her third double-double as a Bobcat with 14 points and 13 boards, while finishing 7-of-9 shooting. Senior Courtney Young nearly missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.
 
Abby Kulick and Alexia Servello each scored 10 points for the Mounties, while Kulick added 14 rebounds.
 
Frostburg State returns to action on Sunday when it opens CAC play at Christopher Newport at 1:00 pm.
