Bobcats Fall to Juniata On The Road

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team fell to Juniata 84-57, Wednesday evening.

Junior forward Kirsten Rayner led the Bobcat offense with 17 points and posted 11 rebounds, her first double-double of the season. Her classmate, Kache Fields also posted double points for the Bobcats, putting up 12.

Juniata (2-1) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before Rayner made a layup giving two to the Bobcats (0-2). The Eagles went on an eight point run, extending their lead to 18 in the middle of the first before freshman Pap Bryce gave the Bobcats two points off free throws.

The Bobcats went on a run early in the second quarter when senior forward Courtney Young made a layup and followed by a jumper by Fields to make the game 24-10. However, two three-pointers and jumper from Juniata gave the host the lead the Bobcats could not relinquish.

Freshman Megan Kelly and freshman Carissa Shepko each hit a three pointer in the second but it wasn't enough and the Eagles went into the half with a 42-23 lead.

Rayner scored eight while Fields scored 6 points in the third quarter for the Bobcats and the Eagles went into the fourth quarter with a dominant lead.

Rayner, Fields and Shepko all went 2-for-2 from the free throw line in the fourth, but it wasn't enough and Juniata sealed the victory.

The Eagles had four players in double digits led by Kelly Leamer with 14 points.

The Bobcats will return to the court when they host the Jim Crawley Tournament November 20-21.
