Women’s Soccer Rolls Past York

YORK, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team won its second consecutive Capital Athletic Conference match when they took down York (Pa.) 1-0, Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats (6-5-1, 2-0) controlled most of the game, outshooting York (3-6, 1-1) 5-4 in the first half and 11-3 in the second half. However, most of the game proved to be a defensive battle between both teams and the match remained scoreless until late in the second half.

Senior Erin Worthman scored the Bobcats lone goal in the 84th minute of the second half. Junior Jessi Martz connected with Worthman in the box and she was able to flick the ball into the net to surge the Bobcats to victory.

This marks Worthman's fourth goal on the season and also her second game-winning goal for the Bobcats this year.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Gray made one save and walked away with the victory. The Spartans goalkeeper Kate Lulle made five saves on the afternoon.

FSU will take the field Wednesday, October 7 for another CAC matchup versus Penn State Harrisburg at 7 pm at Bobcat Stadium.
