FROSTBURG, Md. – Four different players found the net and Frostburg State rode a high-scoring first half to a 4-0 shutout victory over Penn State Harrisburg, Wednesday.
The Bobcats landed nine of their 13 shots on goal en route to their seventh shutout of the season. Frostburg (10-4-1, 4-2-1 CAC) posted eight shots on goal during the decisive first stanza.
Freshman Kelvin Tata dribbled around Penn State Harrisburg keeper Brandon Hoover in the 26
th minute for the game's first tally. Freshman Elliot Quinteros found Tata who scooted to his right and around Hoover for a 1-0 lead.
Just over 10 minutes later, junior Jonathan Lippitt fired a shot into the net off a pass from junior Erik Casterline.
Frostburg tacked on another score just under three minutes remaining in the opening half. Sophomore Mack Naughton scored his second of the year for a 3-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Bobcats made it 4-0 when junior Nabayee Tesfu slipped a shot into the right side of the net. Freshman Serigne Gueye was credited with assists on FSU's final two goals.
Junior starter Hassan Mostafa needed just two saves in the opening half for the win, while freshman Carlos Caro made one save in the second half. The Bobcat defense was also credited with two team saves as senior Mitchell Muise and junior Chris Herbert blocked a couple of shots from going in the goal in the opening half.
The Lions (3-9-2, 1-6 CAC) were led in shots by Aaron Kline who registered two on goal. Hoover finished with three saves and endured the loss.
Frostburg State travels to Salisbury this Saturday for a CAC match at 2:00 pm.
