FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held off a late charge from Wesley as the Bobcats captured a 3-2 CAC victory on senior day, Sunday.
Prior to the game, five Frostburg seniors were recognized for their outstanding careers and the group helped the Bobcats push their record to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in CAC action.
Seniors Jackie Best and Alexandra Darrow each found the net as FSU opened up a 3-0 cushion in the first half.
Bobcat sophomore Ivy Meissner found Best for the game's first tally just 3:23 into action. Almost four minutes later, Meissner collected a loose ball following a save from Wesley keeper Kayla Fromal and buried the ensuing shot in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

rd minute.
Frostburg carried a 3-1 lead into the half after Wesley's Taylor Timmons scored on a cross in the 26
th minute. The Bobcat defense also limited the Wolverines (3-11, 0-4) to just five shots in the opening half despite Wesley being given nine corners.
The Bobcats attempted to add to their lead midway through the second half, but defensive saves from Morgan Seymour (56:54) and Isabella Lucia (60:26) kept the FSU lead at just 3-1.
Moments later, Frostburg sophomore keeper Nicole Leighty turned away a pair of shots before Wesley was awarded a penalty corner at 63:05. Morgan Seymour converted the attempt to narrow the deficit to 3-2 with just under seven minutes remaining.
Following Wesley's final goal, the Bobcats made one last charge at extending their lead with three shots in the closing minutes, however, Fromal stopped all three.
Leighty and starter Jackie Gover each finished with three saves in goal for Frostburg, while at the other end of the field, FSU outshot Wesley, 22-10. The Wolverines held a 16-11 edge in penalty corners.
Frostburg hosts York (Pa.) this Wednesday at 5:00 pm in a key CAC matchup.
