Women’s Soccer Falls In Overtime At St. Mary’s (Md.)

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Frostburg State women's soccer sophomore midfielder Melanie Bell scored the Bobcats' lone goal as FSU fell in overtime, 2-1, at St. Mary's (Md.) in Capital Athletic Conference action, Saturday afternoon.
 
Both teams battled, but the game remained scoreless after the first 45 minutes of play.
 
Bell found the back of the net for FSU (8-6-1, 4-1-1 CAC) from 20 yards out for the game's first goal in the 52nd minute to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
 
With less than four minutes remaining, St. Mary's Caroline Rivera capitalized for the Seahawks (7-6, 5-1 CAC), evening the game at 1-1 and eventually sending it into overtime.
 
Just over five minutes into the first overtime period, Gillian Sawyer found Jess Konecke on a cross to end the game.
 
Frostburg senior goalkeeper Paige Gray finished the day with four saves in 95:12 minutes.
 
Gray's counterpart, Sydney Larkin had seven saves in the victory.
 
The Bobcats travel to Mary Washington for a CAC matchup on Wednesday, October 21. Opening kick is slated for 4:00 pm.
