FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team fell into a 0-0 double overtime draw against Mary Washington, Wednesday afternoon.
After four periods of play, neither the Bobcats (8-6-3, 4-1-2) nor the Eagles (9-6-1, 4-2-1) could find the back of the net, as both teams' defense held the game scoreless.
The Bobcats outshot the Eagles 14-13 on the afternoon, including four shots on goal.
The Frostburg State defense proved to be concrete, handing Mary Washington zero opportunities for a shot on goal.
FSU center backs, senior Jessa DiTullo and sophomore Alyssa Malanik were a force to be reckoned with and led the Bobcats in outstanding defensive performances.
Freshman Danielle Ferris made two shots on goal for the Bobcats; including an overtime shot from 12 yards out that landed right at Eagle goalkeeper Haley Randall.
FSU held a 1-0 shot advantage over the Eagles in the first overtime.
In the second overtime, Mary Washington outshot the Bobcats 1-0 but could not capitalize.
Eagle goalkeeper Randall made four saves on the afternoon, while FSU's senior Paige Gray played all 110 minutes in goal.
FSU returns to the field Saturday, October 24 when they face Wesley at home at 1:00 pm. This game will also be the Bobcats senior day.
